Re: Locke?
Wed, January 31, 2007 - 3:18 PMSounds like a plan. I'd be up for that. And if that weren't enough, a trip to the train museum in West Sac might be in order.

Re: Locke?
Wed, January 31, 2007 - 3:22 PMYeah!
Last I was in Oldtown, which was kinda long ago, they had a cool little museum dedicated to the history of the first American circus, which was a kind of elaborate horse show.

If we have time, we could hit the town of Folsom and then it'd be a Wild West Town trip...

Tue, February 6, 2007 - 4:53 PMIs anyone here?
So I'm all excited about The Bus now. Like I was for my first Cacophony event, back when I was but an embryo of a Bohemian. I've been pretending that we're gonna go to Locke for Chinese New Year, and maybe to Old Town Sac and Folsom. So now it's become a tour of 3 California Old West towns repleat with historical info. and a sleepover at a State Park by Folsom Lake. I've been conducting research, mostly because it's something I love to do. But also because I'm inspired by the magic of The Bus.
Did you know that Old Town Sac was the last stop for the Pony Express? And that John Sutter of Sutter's Mill fame was Swiss? And that the Chinese population of the town next to Locke(ford) got so tired of the non-Chineseness of things that they started their own town?
We could have a picnic. Or several picnics. Or just one giant Snack Parade.
Because I'm from around here and I haven't seen enough of it, not that I need a reason or anything. Now I want to do a series of California History Bus Tours. Northern Coast. Southern Coast. Gold Cuntry. Maybe a Creature Feature trip to Ano Nuevo to watch elephant seals get it on.
Mr. John...?...anyone...?
stop staring at me -

Okay. So. This isn't THAT kind of trip, okay? Just clarifying. BUT, perhaps we could conduct some bacon reconnaissance along the way for a future bacon tour bus trip. But someone else'll have to do the historical research on that because I don't really do the bacon so much. It's not an, "oh no, not the sweet little Wilbur-thing." Let's just say that me and bacon went on a bad date once and leave it at that. But I'm all for reconnoitering the bacon stops.
soooo....that's four of us....../../.............../l v -

Yes. This is exactly what we will be doing. I'm so glad you are on board.
And thank you for the kind offer of giving us all manicures! :)

Re: Locke?
Wed, February 7, 2007 - 7:26 PM...um...sarcasm aside, would we still be able to go to the Chinese-style old west town of Locke on Chinese New Year's day, Sunday, February 17? 'Cause if options are an option, that would be an option.
